 This weapon, affectionately known as "The Skunk," was the standard sidearm
of the Terran Marines during the recent unpleasantness on Proxima 2. The
gun's nickname derives from the characteristic odor of plasma discharge
generated by the weapon while in use. Its olfactory impact aside, the Model
23 probably helped more Proximan natives to their heathen Paradise than any
other single weapon used during the police action, and is used to this day
to maintain peace and order among the members of the Proximan Voluntary
Agricultural Labor Force. This particular unit is shown with the optional
"Eagle Eye" laser sight.
